Hermann Moser 2010 Zweigelt

Hermann Moser 2010 ZweigeltZweigelt is a red grape that was introduced in 1922 by Dr. Fritz Zweigelt as a cross of between St. Laurent and Blaufrankish. It is the most common red grape in Austria (approximately 14% of all grapes).

Hermann Moser winery is managed by Martin and Carmen Moser. The vineyards are 300 years old and are located in the Kremstal wine-growing region of Lower Austria. The grapes for this wine are hand picked in October and fermented in stainless steel tanks.

The 2010 Zweigelt is light ruby in color, has a nice acidity (tart almost) with cranberry and light cherry flavor and hints of bitterness. If you like Pinot Noirs, then this wine is worth checking out. Will go well with white meats and curries.
