A red Southern Rhone blend consisting of Syrah (30%), Grenache (30%), Carignan (30%) and topped of with Mouvèdre (10%).
This wine is dark ruby red and has a smooth character with a very nice mineral backdrop and plenty of layers of fresh luscious berry fruit with rather strong notes of licorice. The 2011 vintage therefore has a completely different character than its 2010 vintage and is comparatively not as tart, but still a great wine to drink.
I didn’t enjoy drinking this wine by itself, but since it has a licorice aroma, this wine would go very well with dishes prepared with leeks or fennel and it did taste great with roast pork.
