The Pepper Pot is a great red blend from South Africa, containing the following grapes: 46% Syrah, 46% Mourvedre and 8% Tannat.
Tannat is a grape variety originally from the South-West of France, but is now often used as a blending grape. It has a fairly high tannin level and is a popular grape in Uraguay.
Not extremely spicy, but well-balanced notes of spicy pepper, cloves and vanilla blended with ripe plum and berry fruit. Nice smooth wine with fruity character and good tannin structure, fairly acidic and very fragrant.
Wine will pair well with chicken, pork and spicy sausage.
