Vega Moragona Tempranillo 2009

Vega Moragona Tempranillo 2009Vega Moragona is a 100% Tempranillo from Bodegas La Magdalena located in the Ribera de Jugar region in Central Spain.

The grapes are grown on vines that are some 80 years old on rocky terrain on limestone and sandstone soils. The hot and dry summers give the wine an intense flavorful character, with plenty of dark blackberry and cherry aromas combined with good acidity and mineral character.

Overall, a great Spanish red wine.

Bodegas Borsao Crianza 2007

Borsao Crianza 2007If you’re a fan of red blends, you certainly have to taste this one from Bodegas Borsao, in the Campo de Borja region in Spain.

This wine (with very cool label) expresses beautiful layers of Grenache (50%), Tempranillo (25%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (25%). I was tasting this delicious wine on a wintry night (although it was almost Spring) and I could picture myself sitting somewhere on a town square in Spain on a warn summer night, enjoying the sounds and sights while sipping a beautifully crafted Spanish wine.

This Crianza 2007 has a deep red color, is full-bodied and boasts layers of ripe raspberry and blackberry fruits with good acidity and nice tannins. The wine is produced from grapes grown on mountainous vineyards and is aged for ten months in French and American oak barrels before further aging for 14 months in the bottle.

A truly exceptional Spanish wine for the money.

Produced and bottled by Bodega Borsao, S.A., Borja, Spain.
